OpenSSL has a lot of legacy OS discontinued, quantity of developers in OpenSSL does not mean quality in the code, OpenSSL has a design problem, it is susceptible to serious flaws, not that LibreSSL has no vulnerabilities, but it has cleaner code and with a focus on safety.
