The claim of L4 is that =C2=B5kernels are non-portable (which makes sense) and that they must be coded in a non-portable way, The orignial one was assembly, and then fiasco is a reimplementation of L= 4 in C (mostly). Linux is UNIX, mostly, if we forget about its bloat. --upas-igrzifkqexkqqkfedzqfoxudet Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Received: from mail.cse.psu.edu ([130.203.4.6]) by aquamar; Thu Mar 4 11:07:37 MET 2004 Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 5BA1D19ED4; Thu, 4 Mar 2004 05:07:19 -0500 (EST) Received: from psuvax1.cse.psu.edu (psuvax1.cse.psu.edu [130.203.4.6]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 223D219C1D; Thu, 4 Mar 2004 05:07:14 -0500 (EST) X-Original-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Delivered-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu Received: by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server, from userid 60001) id 4316B19D1F; Thu, 4 Mar 2004 05:06:05 -0500 (EST) Received: from mercury.bath.ac.uk (mercury.bath.ac.uk [138.38.32.81]) by mail.cse.psu.edu (CSE Mail Server) with ESMTP id 3B71819BB4 for <9fans@cse.psu.edu>; Thu, 4 Mar 2004 05:06:02 -0500 (EST) Received: from news by mercury.bath.ac.uk with local (Exim 3.12 #1) id 1Aypeh-0001LR-00 for 9fans@cse.psu.edu; Thu, 04 Mar 2004 10:00:39 +0000 Received: from GATEWAY by bath.ac.uk with netnews for 9fans@cse.psu.edu (9fans@cse.psu.edu) To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu From: Yi Li Message-ID: Organization: Singapore Telecommunications Ltd References: , Subject: Re: [9fans] Re: Threads: Sewing badges of honor onto a Kernel Sender: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu Errors-To: 9fans-admin@cse.psu.edu X-BeenThere: 9fans@cse.psu.edu X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: 9fans@cse.psu.edu List-Id: Fans of the OS Plan 9 from Bell Labs <9fans.cse.psu.edu> List-Archive: Date: Thu, 4 Mar 2004 10:00:09 GMT X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on psuvax1.cse.psu.edu X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.9 required=5.0 tests=FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS autolearn=no version=2.63 X-Spam-Level: "ron minnich" wrote in message news:Pine.LNX.4.44.0403030620180.24778-100000@maxroach.lanl.gov... > On Wed, 3 Mar 2004, Fco.J.Ballesteros wrote: > > > L4 > > thanks. > > Looks interesting, although I note that what people run on top of it in > one case is ...
