I don't know, you could map the library calls to file I/O, largely write. I was thinking that a similar approach would enable Plan 9 to map X library calls to the native graphics and thus provide a migration path. But I haven't given it any serious thought. And the number of available X functions is daunting. But lesstif may at least illustrate what is possible. ++L
