And, the usual clueless comments.
You put an os on this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Gene
and somebody wants a GUI?

I don't know why the obsession with how an os/app looks... The post is
about having Plan 9 ported to one cool supercomputing platform... And
there goes the "GUI" comment...
A friend of mine is serious about porting a "well known window
manager" to Plan 9... I thought it was a joke but yesterday he called
me to tell me that he had started to do some stuff... (Generic stuff)
Anyway... Happy news! BG/L runs Plan 9!!
"Resistance is futile"
Cheers 9 fans!

This is soooo cool! Can somebody, please, invite me to
one of the sites running this? ;-)
Thanks,
Roman.
P.S. As for GUIs -- I'd much rather see the kind of GUI that Nemo
has been doing, rather than what the ./ crowd thinks when the
word GUI gets mentioned!

Congratulations to all involved. This is fantastic!
for those of us that often get the "who else uses Plan9?" question,
this is a nice addition to a short but distinguished list.

If only I could succeed at installing Plan B! It looks awesome,
indeed.
I'll try it again.

No need in to install Plan B just to use omero, well, not right now,
but hopefully quite soon (say one more month).

Hey, don't do that.
You can always implement a separate viewer for the file server (it's two
separate programs now), perhaps providing a different look and feel for
a different kind of user. Or you could implement a native one for Plan 9 :-)

I would like to add my congratuations to Eric, Charles, Jim & Ron.
This is a really exciting development which will be a rich research
resource and also, hopefully, a high profile showcase for Plan 9 and
inferno.
Eric's blog and the USENIX paper give a real flavour of the exercise:
I also learned a new expression - "bring-up environment" - suggesting
much more than a bootstrap, like coaxing the monster into life...
The scale of the hardware is boggling.
That Plan 9 can tame it and provide a coherent system model - with
practical, scalable tools - is a real testament to the foresight of
the Plan 9 developers.
Leo
