I have setxkbmap -option grp:shifts_toggle,ctrl:nocaps "us,rs(latin)" in my .xinitrc, and when I press left shift key, left button starts to behave as right button. If I run: setxkbmap -option "" "us,rs(latin)" setxkbmap -option "grp:menu_toggle,ctrl:nocaps" "us,rs(latin)" Acme behaves normally. Check out this bug report (I'm not sure why it was marked "Invalid"): https://bitbucket.org/rsc/plan9port/issue/135/xkboptions-with-shift-both_capslock_cancel Regards, Bojan
