Perhaps its just me, I guess it is.

replica has never trashed any on my machines
and has always worked flawlessly (occasionally it
has gone chatty but this has never lasted).

The only problem I have had with replica is my
own in-ability to configure it to sync two
machines (I must try again/harder).

I plan to do the same with my contrib stuff.
