Hi

Trying to install 9front on a new lenovo thinkpad e14 gen 7 laptop with windows 11 preinstalled. Formatted windows 11.

Disabled secure boot, enabled boot mode from quick to diagnostics.

Plan9 console seems to hangs & probably freeze in first screen not going further! ctrl+alt+del & enter not working.

How to troubleshoot?

Ideally, by telling us where exactly does it freeze?

Does it print the string "Plan 9" completely? Does it show the bootargs[...] prompt? ...

Missing TimeOp opcode 0x5b 0x33.

This patch should fix it:

Well, reading the text on the screen and mentioning that it
panic'ed because it couldn't identify any processors would
be a start; thanks for the image.

what specific hardware are you running on, and if it's still
coreboot, how have you set up the bios?

Hardware configuration of my laptop is : Processor-intel core i5 225u, ram-32 gb, harddisk-1.5 tb.

Don’t know whether it supports coreboot. BIOS is still disabled secure boot & diagnostics mode.

if we do this step by step like this on the mailinglist it will take
way too many roundtrips.
commonly you'd use a proper dev setup with working 9front on another
pc. basically you need stable footings first before you start your
training.
cinap has one and already volunteered to use it to build a kernel just
for you to try out, you'll just have to be a bit patient.
our documentation might not suffice to teach you all this at once in
the perfect order you need in the meantime, but you can still try to
catch up as much as possible by reading the documentation available,
we have some .ms or .pdf files that serve as introduction, we have a
fqa that serves as a more modern 9front-specific intro, and we have
the huge collection of man pages, where each section also has a short
intro.
don't expect this to work right away if you have zero prior unix
skills, but you can play around a bit at least: if you know how to use
patch on other unix systems it's quite similar here, run man patch.
you also need mk for running our makefiles.

I revised the change a bit. And opted to implement the TimerOp
properly, which requires some extra functionality in the kernel
to return a 64-bit 10MHz tick:

to bootstrap 9front from source so I cannot confirm.
