I took a first crack at installing the plan9 demo on my PC yesterday. Schematically: Boot from Disk 1 OK Create c:\plan9, etc OK Create plan9.ini OK (see below) Remove disk 1 & reboot ??? That is, after I reboot to DOS and give the command C:>plan9\B instead of the next stage of the installation process, I get the error message "error walking to 9dos" and it asks me where to "boot from" so I gave it sd!0!/plan9/9dos but I got the same error message back. Here is what it says it sees: scsi devices: ----------------- scsi0 = dos C: drive scsi1 = dos D: drive scsi2 = dos E: <----------- this is where I want to install plan9 scsi3 = dos F: scsi4 = dos H: (Texel cdrom) boot devices: ----------------- fd!1 sd!0 sd!2 sd!3 Here is a directory listing of C:\plan9: bedlam:[*root*]/C/plan9 # ls -lt --rev ---------------------------------------------------------------- total 568 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 61280 Aug 11 20:26 b.com* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 208 Aug 11 20:26 notice* drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:26 adm/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 437704 Aug 11 20:26 9dos* drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:26 srv/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:26 tmp/ drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:27 386/ drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:27 lib/ drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:27 mnt/ drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:27 n/ drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 2048 Aug 11 20:27 rc/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 132 Aug 12 09:19 plan9.ini* ------------------------------------------------------------------ and here is plan9.ini: bedlam:[*root*]/C/plan9 # cat plan9.ini ---------------------------------------- mouseport=0 monitor=vga vgasize=640x480x1 scsi0=type=aha1542 port=0x330 console=cga bootfile=sd!0!/plan9/9dos rootdir=/plan9 ----------------------------------------- Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
