i have just spoken to a helpful woman at HBJ in London. the full kit
will be published in the UK in June 1996 (ie, next year),
and the estimated price will be 257 pounds sterling ex. VAT.
(she then gave me a price with VAT that obviously included
the books in the calculation, but i'll wait until next year to sort that out).

the books are `not available' in the UK until then.
as far as she knows, until next year all orders from the UK should
be placed directly with the US, at +1 407 345 3800 (which is indeed
the international number on the plan9.att.com web page).

she also said that she doesn't deal with non-UK orders (eg, German bookshops).
those are dealt with by someone else, and she didn't know what
they were advising. (since the books are not published here,
however, it seems that they have not much choice but just to
turn round and order in from the US as required.)
