Topicbox-Message-UUID: 1c5b23f8-eac8-11e9-9e20-41e7f4b1d025 Message-ID: <19950828091702.gbEztV9jdMePYXm5y8gq9-rHaHvdUtGpNJp1u6kXKfk@z> 9indigo4k won't work on an Indy, which has quite a few differences from the Indigo. i've looked at it a bit recently. some changes are simple (eg, the keyboard is a PC keyboard). others require more work, and indeed more information (for instance, the interrupt registers are almost completely different, the graphics subsystem is significantly different, and the video and audio subsystem is completely different). the SCSI and ethernet are roughly the same (possibly at new addresses), but there are differences between the R4600 and the R4000 (apart from the fact that the R4600 runs at a very respectable speed compared to the R4000, which seemed to think it was a microsparc). there are drivers in one Plan 9 port or another for most of the standard chips used. i've got a machine to use for development, but i haven't had much time to look at it recently. if anyone at SGI wants to help, or have a go, let me know... i hope to get back to it in a few weeks, before term starts. it shouldn't be a vast amount of work.
