Subject: problems using IDE disk

This system may just be incompatible. There are no known problems running
IDE+SCSI together. As has been mentioned, we've had trouble with terminators
and cables on the 1542CF, it's been a matter of juggling things around until
a combination works. Also, we've had touble with the 1542CF causing memory
parity errors. We've no resolution on that other than to think it's a
combination of the above problem and perhaps marginal power supplies.
1) list all the hardware (including cpu type and motherboard) and we can
see if someone can come up with a similar combination;
3) change to all BIOS defaults;
2) physically remove the Adaptec.
