8½ follows acme: while selecting text, with button 1 down,
you can hit button 2 to cut and/or button 3 to paste. in acme, each button
acts as Undo for the other. compare to raising a menu, it feels as though you
are grabbing text from the screen.
sam as distributed lacks it, but mhw@minster.york.ac.uk had changes to add it.
they should reappear eventually.
