Pethaps it would be better if all the key translation was done in user mode?
This is what the Id people want anyway, and it would make handling different
types of keyboards (eg all the different Sun keyboards) easier, plus the Compose
Character stuff could be changed without changing the kernel.  Problems with
this idea: need some way of bootstrapping (need to be able to type before the
connection to the file server is established), and it kind of kills ^T^Tr.  Well, it's
just a thought!
