Subject: What's gonna happen to the music comp. algorithym?

I was wondering what would happen if that music compression algorithym was given to the FSF
(Free Software Foundation.) Someone could give a video/sound compression algorithym to go
with it and we could unify the WEB in the multimedia area. Good idea?
The problem is that no-one is developing free standards in multi-media. It's Microsoft vs.
Mac vs. OS/2 vs. NeXTSteP vs. AT&T vs. ????.
Just trying to improve things,
-Russ
