John, assisted by Peter Salus and Berny Goodhart, would like to republish this as a part of history. Arranging this is the subject of (difficult) negotiations that involved Novell and now involve SCO. We would like to assist this effort but the decisions aren't ours. The second: Lions revisited Bell Labs several years ago and started a similar effort for an early version of Plan 9. Unfortunately, it was a bit too early; the kernel and almost everything else changed enough that it's not relevant to any distributed version of Plan 9. Retrieving and publishing it wouldn't do justice to any involved. Dennis
