* mk error on NeXT

When I try to recompile the 9nextstation, I got the following error from mk:

All the root* functions are defined in devroot.2 but it wasn't regonized for
some reason. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

devroot.2 is probably empty or partially built, perhaps
when you interrupted an earlier build.  remove it or do a 'mk clean'
to force it to be recompiled.  if the problem still occurs,
let me know.
