Peter Weiner was the founder, in 1977, of the first commercial UNIX
company, UNIX Systems and Services, Inc.

Shortly after incorporation, and prior to signing the first
commercial UNIX license, with binary sublicense rights, the
company's name was changed to INTERACTIVE Systems Corporation, at
the request of Western Electric lawyers.

He also was the first holder of the California license plate UNIX.
No compaints were ever received, and the license plate is currently
held by Ted Dolotta, now President of Softbank America Inc.

> Why did Peter Weiner register plan9.com?

---------

1) weiner.com was already taken

2) ditto for peter.com

3) He had to come up with something fast to beat the $50
registration fee

4) The movie was compelling

5) He thought that www.plan9.com would make a cool web site

Suggestions for the nascent site will of course be appreciated.
