I'm thinking we may be forced into resetting the controller but I really don't want to do that. For instance, the controller on the Creative Labs Vibra16 card doesn't appear to implement the necessary registers. ------ forwarded message follows ------ >>From cse.psu.edu!9fans-outgoing-owner Fri Dec 8 15:45:22 EST 1995 Received: from colossus.cse.psu.edu by plan9; Fri Dec 8 15:45:22 EST 1995 Received: by colossus.cse.psu.edu via suspension id <78994>; Fri, 8 Dec 1995 15:52:39 -0500 Received: by colossus.cse.psu.edu id <78993>; Fri, 8 Dec 1995 15:27:54 -0500 Received: from mail.infinet.com ([198.30.154.1]) by colossus.cse.psu.edu with SMTP id <79000>; Fri, 8 Dec 1995 15:27:27 -0500 Received: from DARC by mail.infinet.com with smtp (Smail3.1.28.1 #9) id m0tO9JE-000JgHC; Fri, 8 Dec 95 15:22 EST Message-Id: Comments: Authenticated sender is From: "Luther Huffman" To: cse.psu.edu!9fans Date: Fri, 8 Dec 1995 10:26:15 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Subject: More ATAPI drive blues Priority: normal X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Windows (v2.23) Sender: cse.psu.edu!owner-9fans Precedence: bulk Reply-To: cse.psu.edu!9fans Hello, folks. The good news is that as of this afternoon I finally got the three disk version of Plan 9 running on my system. The bad news is that ten minutes later the UPS guy came with the CD-ROM version of Plan 9. I have a Mitsumi FX-400 IDE CD-ROM drive. It's attached to the secondary controller of an NS87410 dual-IDE controller and configured at 0170h and IRQ 15. My problem is, while attempting the CD-ROM installation, I get the message "ATAPI disk not found". Clearly, the Plan 9 installer isn't finding my drive. It's there, honest. Anyone have any suggestions? Like I said earlier, I've got the diskette version up and running, so I can tinker with configurations, etc. Thanks in advance, Luther Huffman, Jr.
