DHCP is an Internet protocol, not exclusively Microsoft's,
nor was it exclusively designed by them
(although you'd hardly be blamed for thinking so, given the
way it is commonly described as a wonderful new Microsoft invention
by the PC press).  it's actually quite a useful thing to have in
the arsenal if you aim to take over the networking world.
