Plan9 once damaged fat partitions so I am bit more curefull >>now... that had to do with the handling or interpretation of the partition table especially on installation, and was fairly quickly changed. the ext2fs servers are distinct programs, and might have bugs of their own, of course, though no one has mentioned it. the one i did gave read-only access; someone else wrote a server that would allow full read/write access. i haven't had a linux partition for several years now, and haven't tested the latter myself.
