While I'm still having no luck with my atapi CDROM drive, I _almost_ have ipconfig working! I tried a second IDE controller tonight but cannot get it working with my motherboard :-( Time for "Plan B" for Plan 9: I'm addressing the CDROM problem by purchase of a Buslogic 545C and a SCSI CDROM drive, I hope that this will allow me to finish my installation. For the ethernet card, I edited /lib/ndb/local and changed the "pc" entry to the ip address and netmask for my machine. Problem is, even if I set the netmask manually with term% ip/ipconfig -m 255.255.255.248 192.75.246.246 ^^^ the OS sees the netmask as a standard class C, i.e. 255.255.255.0. While I can telnet to the other machines on my LAN, due to the incorrect netmask I cannot get beyond my LAN, through my router, to anywhere else. Any way to get the .248 netmask installed?
