As Charles pointed out, we need only to read a database in this case where no one will try to write. The problem is that I missed my way when I saw too many "ifdef" things in the gdbm sources, which forced me much dissapointed to try to do something there. ;_; However, I'm still have an will to do there after taking a good sleep last night. I'm now starting with Stevens's dbm package which has little ifdef things, and is more clear to me. Kenji
