I'm pretty sure that DVD drives act like CD-ROM drives when used
with CD-ROMs, but DVD itself (video disk) is supposed to require
processing assist from an MPEG decoder (usually a hardware card),
so that aspect wouldn't work without special support.

What is this about a "new version of Plan 9"?  Is Brazil available?

Anyway, I would *sure* like Plan 9 on x86 to honor the standard
disk partitioning scheme, instead of living in "empty space".
