Yes, it will. We've been running on such systems since shortly after the last release (1995). However, Intel-based SMP systems are notoriously fickle in conforming to the Multiprocessor Specification and often some head-scratching is required when things don't just work. The system has been run on machines ranging from dual Pentium 90's up to quad Xeon 400's and the 8 processor Pentium Pro Axil system. Unfortunately we've not been able to test the new release on all those systems so some glitches may have re-appeared. By default, as it comes out the box, the release has SMP operation disabled by an option in the plan9.ini config file. --jim
