I use a similar tactic -- I removed the keycaps from the numeric keypad, and mounted a trackball (logitech marble or marble+, NOT the marble FX). I've been using it for a couple years, and am quite happy with it. At home, it's nice because the user input can be moved around (lap, desk, passed to other person) as one piece, not two, while at work it's much nicer with the under-the-desktop keyboard trays (which dramatically increase the delay for mouse users, in my experience). If only I could work up something similar for a laptop... chad
