if you set port=0x240 (or 220, 260, etc.)
the driver should be able to handle the
rest of the configuration itself.

is a soundblaster prober you can use
to try to figure out the port.

it prints lots of hex numbers.
if they're mostly 0xff, that's
the wrong port.

make sure that in your bios, pnp os
is _disabled_.  that will make the
bios auto-config the pnp devices for you.
