it shouldn't happen. check that you have the
latest files. i believe they're in the last full
package.

I believe I religiously applied to the initial distribution all
the subsequent patches (and would have been warned if I didn't do
it properly, but that needs a reality check: all the checksums seem
wrong.

While I download the most recent full archive, I'll see if I can
reproduce the entire operation. No promises, all this took place
over a long period; but I do have all the updates, I think, and
the exercise could be worthwhile.

Assuming I have a fresh installation of Plan 9, up to the most recent,
suffixed 'a', patches, I get a rather ugly result in an attempt to
'mk all' in /sys/src (well, /n/other/sys/src, to be precise):

+ Thu Apr 26 07:39:07 SAT 2001
+ 8c -FVw fid.c
+ 8c -FVw file.c
+ 8c -FVw intmap.c
+ 8c -FVw req.c
+ req.c:31 structure not fully declared Reqpool
+ req.c:65 not a member of struct/union: taglock
+ req.c:68 not a member of struct/union: taglock
+ req.c:72 structure not fully declared Reqpool
+ warning: req.c:57 used and not set: nr
+ req.c:91 structure not fully declared Reqpool
+ req.c:99 structure not fully declared Reqpool
+ req.c:101 structure not fully declared Reqpool
+ warning: req.c:96 used and not set: f
+ mk: 8c -FVw req.c : exit status=rc 706:8c 708:error
+ mk: date for (i ... : exit status=rc 692:rc 695:mk 696:error

It looks like a missing or broken header file, but I have no idea
where to start looking (req.c is in /sys/src/lib9p).
