I'll try to spend some time applying Jedi mind tricks to hardware vendors. I'm told that Nvidia will sell anybody their interface documentation for $1,000, so they may be more susceptible than most. Figuring out which cards (or even chip sets) are going to have the longest shelf lives, so that the effort is worthwhile, would help to set priorities.
