Subject: [9fans] printing a large image under plan 9
Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2001 18:56:07 +0100	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20010731174558.7086B19A12@mail.cse.psu.edu> (raw)

i wanted to print a largish image today and found myself unable (even
on our cpu server with a fair amount of memory, jpg(1) failed for lack
of memory, but on writerawimage(), not Breadjpg()).

before i go delving and rewrite some old postscript image tiling code,
does anyone have a decent solution?

(it would also be nice to be able to preview a large image.
internet explorer manages to display it what seems like an obscenely
short amount of time although that might be due to the speedy
processor on that windows box)

  cheers,
    rog.

PS. the image in question can be found at
	http://oposite.stsci.edu/pubinfo/pr/2001/21/content/0121y.jpg
if anyone wants to experiment. it's quite pretty.
