Things don't always >>have to be simple to use in the first 5 minutes. as i think i've said before, my mother saw me using acme, asked for a demonstration, and liked it. i've shown people how to use the basics of acme in a matter of minutes not hours (compared to some other things) and they often weren't technical either. one reason is that it relies on the composition of a small collection of primitives, each of which is easy to explain and learn quickly.
