Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2001 22:56:19 -0700 Topicbox-Message-UUID: 0b2ee752-eaca-11e9-9e20-41e7f4b1d025 I am trying to get Plan 9 to run on my AlphaPC. It *almost* works; it hangs after I hit return at the "root is from..." prompt. Here is a transcript of the session: ===== Alpha Plan 9 secondary boot Digital AlphaPC 164 500 MHz Memory size: 512MB 199.26.172.185 (199.26.172.185!67): /alpha/conf/199.26.172.166.../alpha/9apc 567872+198464+78968=845304 entry: 0x80400020 Digital AlphaPC 164 500 MHz cpu0: 21164A-2 (7.2, 7, 0) cpu0: CIA revision 2; cnfg 21 cntrl 210cd8f5 cpu0: HAE_IO 2000000 #l0: 2114x: 0Mbps port 0x10100 irq 2: 08002BC48264 sd53c8xx: SYM53C810ALV rev. 0x12 intr=1 command=2000047 39212 free pages 313696K bytes 1593696K swap root is from (il)[il]: ===== I suspect the problem is with the ethernet card. I don't see any network activity after I hit return. Note also that the system claimed it is "0Mbps" rather than giving the actual media type. The card is an honest-to-goodness DEC DE-500, with a 21143 NIC. (I couldn't get the SRM console to do BOOTP on a non-DEC 21140 card, so it appears I am stuck with the 21143.) Suggestions?
