Those are its advantages. I have used it to find old mail messages, files I've deleted, the day on which a log file first appeared, and countless other things. Source code control applies only to what you give it and when you give it. For that narrow domain, it may be better, but the narrowness makes comparing CVS to /n/dump a dull exercise. -rob
