As a result, plan9 does not see either of them. Increasing the timeout before the driver decides that there is nothing on an IDE bus helped in r3. BTW, I see the same behavior with 4e on the machine which initially had problems with r3. Another symptom is that the sdC0 light does not go off at all. If not, make the CDROM the secondary master. I suspect that we're not detecting secondary slaves without masters. Russ
