That message shouldn't've gone to this list. I was replying to a
different message, but because a new message came while I was reading the
other message before replying to it, message number <whatever message the
one I intended to reply to was> silently became message number <whatever
message the one I intended to reply to was + 1>, creating this rather
weird situation that I thought I'd figured out how to work around already
several years ago. . .
