I assumed as much, but somehow could not get the "ptr" queries to work. Maybe it's just the SOA record I have trouble with (that is, defining the "zone", which from the above I assume is largely implicit) or, more likely, the actual way delegations take place. It's all quite muddled in my mind. I'll see if I can rephrase my problem more clearly. As I'm about to rearrange my network, this is a good time for me to get more familiar with the network database. ++L
