In some cases, the spec is too lax, like where, apparently, a 10-byte ATAPI request is accepted, but an equivalent 6-byte SCSI one isn't. I believe the spec does not enforce the compatibility. But these things don't stop one providing the infrastructure, the quirks just need to be assimilated in as general a manner as possible, and documented. ++L
