(I'm unsure whether Russ refers to the plan 9 ports,
or to the general case of porting 'portable code' to sun os
which was in the message he replied to, I think)

here there seems to be a move from sun to (dual boot) pc+linux(+windows).
having a sun on my desk, when I have time I'm happy to have (and keep)
recent ports working -- but living with ''old ports'' is an option too
when time is lacking or problems seem too big, as I thought they were
when I started this thread.
