Hi.

I have tried with the vmware.zip disk image from plan9 page. I have
also install a plan9 from scratch from a 3 ed. CD and a 4 ed. CD.

It always hangs at:

MBR...PBS...[foo]
ELCR: 0E00
apm ax=[foo]
dev A0 port[foo]
dev A0 port[foo]
<--- hangs

Also tried the CDROM legacy trick...

note i am in Windows XP.
