(I don't have it handy to double check the model number, however) My modem is a softmodem, and so no, it won't "just" show up as a serial p= ort! (And I had a good deal of trouble getting it to work under Linux - in fac= t, I eventually gave up - the modem worked - eventually, just - but suspend/= resume broke it) Martin
