I might not qualify for any average or even Linux user, but I have done much of the same wrt "desktop" UI's. I'm sticking with Ion3 (and rarely dwm on some tricky systems where lua or something blows up). Practically never having to resize or move frames (windows) and never having things obscured or having to look for something or do pixel tweaks it is something I'll never expect to want to give up again.
