[9fans] problems sending mail to plan 9 systems

it seems I (our site?) can no longer get e-mail across
to (certain) plan 9 systems.
e.g., to the system handling the inferno mailing list.

could there be a clash between plan 9 anti-spam
measures and the greylisting used at our site?

it seems the message doesn't get delivered due
to 'deferred: smtp ping: smtp: interrupted'.

I copy/paste below (slightly edited) most of
the message our local mail daemon sent me.
