I claim that Plan9 with kerTeX (that is finally starting to get the=20 impetus) gives the best distributed OS for science related publication in the academic world. Not to mention OS study by itself. So the more Plan9 (or derived) is used---and the TeX framework is instrumental for this---, the more attraction it will have; and, by mere statistics, the more potential about students.
