Wikipedia says: The terms "integrated drive electronics" (IDE), "enhanced IDE" and "EIDE" have come to be used interchangeably with ATA (now Parallel ATA, or PATA). This matches my understanding. Recall that IDE was essentially ST-506 with all the analog bits done on the drive itself (hence the name Integrated Drive Electronics).
