It is unfortunate to have, for some common tasks, the need of "something else" (and due to the size and complexity of Mozilla and Chrome, "something else" can be a pretty restrictive choice). If I'm not mistaken, Russ Cox says somewhere that he was happy working under Plan9 but that he ported the Plan9 utilities to other systems when he realized there was no hope that someday Mozilla will run on Plan9...
