I'm going to make ether address the last resort. the problem is that with the same ether address you can at different times (or at least I do) connect to very different networks. I'm going to use the args first, dhcp second, and ether as last resort. I'm also building a tool that goes through your interfaces, asks you questions, and tries to create a /lib/ndb/local file and an rc script to start ip. I have a lot of samples from the ways I connect to work, ISP's, etc. I'm hoping to see a few more. --upas-xfwdydkzwbjvjlkrjjmypndobw--
