I have noticed this in acme-sac (on Windows) as well. It is somewhat annoying when you're trying to select a block of text that starts at the beginning of a line. I have become more adept of finding the point where the selection is possible, but there's definitely an area of a few pixels (the padding between the scrollbar and the text area?) where nothing happens.
