we are using it for a bunch of machines everyday for months and we dont
have any problem. but i am not sure if a source rebuild will make it fail.

are the wires connected properly and are the ethernet LEDs fine? does
'ip/tftpd -d' give any clue? if you use dhcp client, does it get the ip
address successfully? did u try running snoopy in the server? usually, i
try these things.
