Message-ID: <37E8C1991E38729346172E410DC21EA2@eigenstate.org> (raw)
Hi,
On behalf of the iwp9 organizers, I'm happy to announce that iwp9 will
be happening on April 21-23, in Waterloo, Ontario. For full, up to date
information, keep an eye on the website (https://iwp9.org).
Call for Papers
---------------
Jan 30: Paper submission deadline
Jan 30: Proposals for hackathons and tutorials deadline
Feb 13: Paper acceptance notification
Feb 27: Works in progress submission deadline
Mar 6: WIP acceptance notification
Mar 10: Registration deadline
Mar 13: Camera ready version
April 21-23: Workshop
Scope
-----
The Plan 9 operating system and related technologies, such as the 9p
protocols and the Inferno OS, have gained increased interest due to
the recent founding of the Plan 9 Foundation
(https://plan9foundation.org) and the publication of Plan 9 and
Inferno source code under the MIT open source license.
This 2023 edition of the International Workshop on Plan 9 aims to
bring together researchers, developers and students working on Plan 9
from Bell Labs or related systems, platforms, and projects, to discuss
a wide range of system and application ideas and issues.
Suggested topics for papers and discussion include, but are not
restricted to, any of the following:
- System architecture
- System services
- Ports to new hardware platforms
- File systems and servers
- Applications
- Projects for other platforms related to Plan 9
- Security issues
Types of Submission
-------------------
In order to increase the interactivity of the workshop, we intend to
offer a hackathon and/or tutorial session in addition to the
presentation of regular and short work in progress papers. Please
send your proposal to iwp9papers at iwp9.org including the topic and a
short abstract of the session, the name(s) of the organizer(s),
duration of the session and required infrastructure (e.g.
wired/wireless network, power, video projector). Paper Submission
Papers of up to 15 pages must be sent to iwp9papers at iwp9.org in PDF
format. Please do not forget to include the e-mail address of the
contact author. Submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail (please
allow for a small delay). Papers must be visually similar to Plan 9
papers that can be found at /sys/doc/ in order to compile a
homogeneous proceedings book. Please keep this look and feel, use the
same fonts and do not include page numbers.
WIP Submission
--------------
WIP of up to 3 pages must be set to iwp9wip at iwp9.org in PDF format.
Please do not forget to include the e-mail address of the contact
author. Submissions will be acknowledged via e-mail (please allow for
a small delay). Formatting requirements are the same as for papers.
Program and Proceedings
-----------------------
An electronic version of the proceedings will be provided to all
participants and authors and will be publicly available after the
workshop. We are also considering the edition of a printed version
with ISBN, to be distributed during the workshop.
Registration
------------
The registration deadline is March 10th, 2023. To register, please
send an e-mail to iwp9reg at iwp9.org with your name, affiliation and
e-mail address, one per line.
The workshop will be held in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, on the campus
of the University of Waterloo.
