i ran ken's fs with an 8169 for years.  i'd be happy to
sell you one for the cost of shipping, or you can
get your own for $20 or less.  also most intel pci
gigabit and almost every pci-e gigabit card works
well.  in addition, i've used the myricom 10gbe and
the intel 82598 10gbe cards successfully with ken's
fs.

i believe that the 8169 driver is in the last version
of ken's fs that was in the standard distribution.
the 8169 driver and all the others may be found
in my contrib version.
