I don't think attracting to Plan9 the kind of developer who *prefers* GNOME is at all a positive step. However, I see no harm in having GTK+/GLIB implemented on Plan9; for one thing, it makes importing useful apps that weren't developed with Plan9 in mind easier, much as APE makes importing POSIX apps easier.
